UPDATE: Sold Out!
Over on Ebay, their daily deal right now is a $50 Marriott Gift Card for $40 with free shipping an no American Express card required.
The other deal at Daily Getaways goes live right now as well though an American Express card is required to get the 20% discount.
In my personal experience, the people at the front desk have ALWAYS processed them as gift cards. They key is pay at least a small portion with cash or a credit card, and the remainder with the gift card. Never had issues with points posting. Ever.
@Jon- thanks for posting your experience
Yeah but they hardly ever enforce that policy

My understanding is you can’t use the Travel Cards with AAA or other group rates (giving up at least 10%) and you also don’t earn Marriott points.
AFAICR, the TravelCards do not earn any points during the stay. Also not eligible for discounted rates.
Not a deal. I was initially fooled too. Those are travel cards, not gift cards. GiftCardMall is misrepresenting them in the ebay title.
@HikerT – what’s the difference?
