A Delta Sky Club patron, Joseph Johnson, allegedly went on quite a wild bender at the Salt Lake City airport last week. A passenger approached police to report a stolen backpack from the Delta Sky Club, which contained approximately $4,000 worth of property.
Officers located the suspect, Joseph Johnson, who had earlier been escorted out of the Delta Sky Club due to intoxication. Before being removed, Johnson managed to snag the passenger’s backpack.
Johnson was initially cooperative, but then became belligerent—throwing his luggage at officers and attempting to walk away. Officers apprehended him, at which point Johnson tried to grab one officer’s gun from its holster, prompting a physical takedown.
Johnson was eventually placed in a patrol car, where he struck his head against the glass inside the vehicle.
Johnson was booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on multiple charges including disarming a police officer, theft of property valued between $1,500 and $4,999, interfering with an arresting officer, and public intoxication.
