A dog being sent from Newark to Phoenix ended up being mistakenly routed instead to Ireland on United Airlines. After spending over $600 for the crate and ticket, the owner was quite upset by the mistaken routing.
“Somebody called me and told me that there was something wrong with the dog, and that the dog was on its way to Ireland instead of to Phoenix,” Alback said.
The dog went from Newark to Ireland, back to Newark, and then eventually on to Phoenix – the journey lasting a full four days.
United Airlines hasn’t figured out what caused the mixup but has refunded the owner the money for the ticket.
At least it sounds like he lived through it. That could have been a much bigger disaster the way animals travel sometimes.
Did he get any miles?
@jorge – makes you wonder!
Not surprised.
Heckuva mileage run for Fido!
