Trying to stay awake, we decided to head out and walk around rather than go to sleep. Our first destination was the Spanish steps which was only a 10 minute walk away.
From there we followed the street, seeing amazing sculptures and fountains everywhere.
We walked all the way to the Pantheon, but unfortunately had arrived to late to go inside. The huge columns are an amazing testament to the workmanship that went into this building.
After that we followed the road to two churches – Chiesa Di Santa Maria Maddalena and Chiesa Di San Luigi Dei Francesi.
Lastly we ended up at the famous Trevi Fountain where there were hundreds of people watching the water cascade down. There were plenty of street hawkers as well trying to sell us everything from taking our picture to devices that would fly in the air to all kinds of glowing devices.
We capped off the night with some Blue Ice gelato which we thought was pretty authentic. We would find out later that Blue Ice isn’t even close to the same league as some of the other gelato in Rome. Having walked quite a bit, we headed back to the Boscolo extremely tired and ready to fall to sleep.
So where do we go to get the good gelato?
@Chris – My opinoin – hands down it was Giolitti. http://www.giolitti.it/
