Note: Since I stayed here at the end of 2014, the property is no longer with Radisson but instead is now the Tahiti Pearl Beach Resort. My review is based on when they were still with Radisson.
It has been quite a while since I was last in Tahiti. I had only stayed at the Intercontinental chains in the past in Papeete, Bora Bora, and Moorea so this time I decided to give the Radisson Plaza Resort in Papeete a try.
I arrived from my Air France flight and noticed that the airport has been upgraded since the last time I was here. I remember there being two thatched stands where everyone was greeted. There were actual signs hanging up from the raftors now.
The Air France flight had arrived early in the morning and I wasn’t sure what the prospects of being able to check into the hotel right away. I arrived at the hotel, went to the front desk and was glad to hear that there were rooms available right now for immediate check in. As an added bonus, I was given an upgrade to one of their suites though I had no status with the Radisson hotel chain.

There was a large room for the bedroom and a large sitting area along with two separate bathrooms.
The room was very clean, very nice and very quiet. The property is up against a public beach that was very clean and well kept.
The breakfast at the restaurant had a nice selection of hot and cold foods, with lots of fresh, cold fruit. The made to order omelettes tasted great and the french toast was well done as well.

Overall, it was a very nice property that wasn’t super busy and was quiet. The staff was polite and helpful and I didn’t run into any issues during my stay. The overall quality of the hotel was slightly below the Intercontinental but I didn’t find any problems with the property.
I was researching this hotel recently only to find they left Radisson or Radisson left them. On TripAdvisor the review since the change are pretty bad. Sad since this “looked” like a nice resort.
My wife and I stayed here in 10/2010 for a day when our cruise ship pulled into port and we waited to head back to the airport. We changed rooms THREE times because of dead insects everywhere in the first two rooms and live ones crawling around the third. The hotel’s response? “Well, it’s an island, you just have to deal with it.” When I took out my camera, started shooting and mentioned that I blog, they suddenly moved us to a gorgeous, clean room and we never saw another bug inside.
