Twitter musicians rally behind England before the Sweden vs England match Saturday

I can’t begin to explain how excited I am about the Sweden vs England World Cup match on Saturday. Back in 1994, I was living in Stockholm and the city was absolutely bonkers about the success of the Swedish football team who took third place in the World Cup. Since then, I’ve been an avid supporter of the Swedish team along with my home country US. Side note – smart move that United States will be hosting in 2026 so that we will get an automatic bid as we’re quite awful.

The England fans have taken to Twitter to compile a crowd sourced song to the tune of “Three Lions”.

The lryics are:

It’s coming home,
It’s coming home, it’s coming,
Football’s coming home. (x4)

Three lions on a shirt.
Jules Rimet still gleaming.
Thirty years of hurt
Never stopped me dreaming.

It’s coming home,
It’s coming home, it’s coming,
Football’s coming home. (x2)

British musician, Nick Harvey, started the compilation by playing the Three Lions song and asking for other Twitter folks to join in with their instruments.

Since then, several folks have added on to his beginning.

And some guitar

And we round it off with a Bez from the Happy Mondays impersonation by @londonlass666.

Well done English fans – though it still won’t be enough to defeat the might Swedish team!!
