Breakfast this morning consisted of the free continental breakfast provided for being SPG Platinum members.
Today’s activities included drives out to West Maui to see some of the great scenery. As we were driving around, we happened upon a paddleboard competition. I saw some people doing paddleboard when we were in the Maldives. I’m not quite sure I have the upper body strength for this activity especially after watching Shark Week on the Discovery Channel where a paddleboarder was attacked by sharks.
There were a couple of points on the trip where we were on a very narrow road with a sheer cliff to the left. I’ve never gripped the steering wheel so tight. It was seriously stressful driving that close to the cliff.
For lunch, we stopped at Teddy’s Burger. I ordered the Monster Double and onion rings. It came out as a giant mess. An underbooked hamburger with toppings and sauce dripping all over the place. We were very disappointed overall. We’ll pass on going back.
We headed back to the resort, cleaned up and heading back to Aloha mixed plate again and ordered the chow mein and ribs. A much better experience than Teddy’s Burger.
For dessert, we went to Ono Gelato. They have a back porch area that’s very quiet where you can eat your gelato and watch the waves. A very peaceful ending to a very busy day.
We did not see the sign either, and halfway in we turned around. The driving was treacherous. Guess we’re lucky nothing happened.
I had to do a double take after looking at the pictures. I snapped at least half of the exact same photos in May. Wow!
Thanks for the memories.
Well, it looks like you went around the north end of Maui. Cool trip. You know you’re not allowed to take your rental car around there right? You saw the big sign telling you that as you started out? Not that anybody pays attention to it, but I assume if something happened to the car you might be in a spot of trouble/on your own…
@ Glenn – yeah didn’t see any sign – wish I would have, I hated that drive. Agree that Sheraton Maui is a fantastic hotel
don’t miss out on Ululani’s Shave Ice while in Maui, I was there almost everyday there.
